In July 2009, after 12 years of uninterrupted service, GRAIN decided to stop producing BIO-IPR in its current form. We will transform it into a lighter web-based service, which will still be accessible through email subscription.

We are currently working on a revision of our website which will incorporate a feature that allows us to post short materials related to intellectual property and people's struggles for local control over biodiversity (among other issues). This will take the place of BIO-IPR.

BIO-IPR is an email list to circulate information about recent developments in the field of intellectual property rights related to biodiversity & associated knowledge.

Postings to the list include full-text documents and resource pointers. It is not a discussion forum. However, participants are encouraged to submit press releases, news reports, articles, alerts and information about their work, especially those that reflect what is happening at the local or national level.

BIO-IPR is a strictly non-commercial and educational service for nonprofit organisations and individuals active in the struggle against IPRs on life.
