About grain.org This page explains a bit about the GRAIN website. STRUCTURE Aswell as presenting our publications, we also wanted to share other people's information and zoom in on the issues around the fight for rights and agricultural research. We also share our information through email lists to which anyone can subscribe to. The What's new section aswell allowing you to catch up on new publications, also allows you to follow all the latest additions to the website. . LANGUAGE The website has been written in ColdFusion, Javascript and HTML. It was first designed by a company called Torchbox in 2000. The Torchbox version was used for three years with some modifications. During 2003/2004, the website was overhauled, using much of what was done before, to both produce a more user-friendly interface, and launched in March 2004. Large parts of the website can now be updated easily by GRAIN staff around the world, to ensure that GRAIN's website is continuously updated. EMAIL - LISTSERVER The GRAIN email lists have been fully integrated into the GRAIN website. All emails sent out are now available on the website. Subscribers to our email lists can now log into the GRAIN website to change their settings, or subscribe and unsubscribe from email lists. A lot of the programming for the subscribe section of the website was provided by CFMagic. |
