Asserting autonomy & sovereignty

To take food production from the hands of farmers and give it to a few corporations is more than an act of betrayal; it is plunder. Imposing what crops to grow and how to grow them for whom, not only takes decisions away from local communities but also destroys options for the future. Communities are taking steps to pursue autonomous existence. This section highlights a broad spectrum of community initiatives that question monocultural orientation of production, explore diverse farming options, promote self-identities, develop profound sense of agriculture, and promote bottom-up, process-oriented development.
